Known online as Alex Stan, is a 24-year-old Roma activist and a master’s student in Social Justice - Human Rights at the University of Sydney. He has gained considerable recognition for his online presence, where he promotes Roma history, culture, and rights through impactful, short educational videos. His content, which addresses both historical perspectives and contemporary issues facing the Roma community, has garnered over 2 million views and earned him a following of more than 20,000 people. Alex’s work aims to challenge stereotypes and foster understanding, using storytelling and factual insights to engage a diverse audience. Beyond his online activism, Alex has also been deeply involved in student representation in Romania, where he held the role of First Vice President of the Romanian Students’ Union.

Social Media Communication of Awareness Campaigns Addressing the Phenomenon of Antigypsyism

Abstract This article aims to explore how governmental and non-governmental entities, along with other relevant actors in civil society, can implement various social media marketing techniques to maximize the impact of awareness campaigns aimed at combating anti-Roma sentiment. Non-governmental organizations, public institutions, and other entities working in this field use diverse social media communication tools to promote their messages and engage their followers in the fight against this issue. However, the effectiveness, tactics, and approaches vary depending on the message sender. Combating anti-Roma atitudes is crucial in achieving international ideals of social justice, intercultural peace, social stability, and economic development.
